Alasdair is a Veterinary graduate from Massey University. Originally from South Africa where he studied BSc Zoology then spent over a decade working in IT both here and in the UK before fulfilling a life time passion of becoming a veterinarian. Alasdair was working in a mixed clinic before joining our team in November 2020.
Vet Technologist (nursing & vet tech work)
Abby grew up on a dairy farm at Katikati where she found her passion for animals and the farming industry. After graduating from Massey University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology she worked with a company to help with the eradication of Mycoplasma bovis. She joined us in late 2019 and is looking forward to meeting our clients and providing great healthcare to their animals.
HR & Strategic Manager
GVS is providing a great service and as a result it is growing. In 2019 Jono joined to help with this growth and the changes the team are undertaking to become a peek performing organisation. Jono is an experienced employment consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the staffing and recruiting industry. Bringing skills from a diverse background of work and volunteer experience from firefighting and mental health work to facility management and more. Jono enjoys working in GVS's close knit team and being a part of an organisation wants to make a positive difference in the world.
Mixed Practice & Zoo Vet
Janine is from the Vaal Triangle in South Africa. Graduating from Onderstepoort University 2015. She was in the first group to undergo the CCS (Compulsory community service) programe and was stationed at Elsenburg performing veterinary public health and welfare work in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. Janine then worked as a small animal veterinarian before moving to the South Island NZ as a mixed practice vet. Janine’s passion for veterinary science started with endurance horse riding in school and her goal is to one day successfully complete Fauresmith (201 km over 3 days in the cold!). Janine has a keen interest in internal medicine and ultrasonography. Enjoying a puzzling case as much as being out on farm.

Mixed Practice & Zoo Vet
Tori grew up in rural north Taranaki graduating from Massey University in 2017. And comes to us from a vet practice in South Taranaki where he worked predominantly in the dairy sector. Tori also has experience in the sheep/beef sector, with some lifestyle and exotic animal experience. He is a positive and charismatic person with a real passion for his profession and a strong interest in herd nutrition, reproduction and surgery. Tori says he is really enjoying working within the growing lifestyle animal and exotic pets sectors. while also having experience with alpacas and a particular interest in birds.
Receptionist & Administrator
Ruth joined us in 2012 and has a solid knowledge of farming practices having worked in veterinary practices for a large part of her life and coming from a beef sheep and deer farming back ground in the South Island. Ruth has always had a strong passion for farming and large and small animals. She lives in Waerenga with her husband, Nelson her French bull dog as well 3 other great dogs, 2 cats and a retired show jumper on a dairy run off block.
Receptionist & Tech
Brittany is a very keen farmer living and working on a local farm. She has been doing some tech work on the side for a few years. She will be joining our team as a part time receptionist and casual tech bringing her industry knowledge and passion for farming and animal health to our team.

PhD Veterinary Medicine
Jo is a passionate and energetic veterinarian 2015 graduate from Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany. Returning to practical work after doing a doctorate degree and is passionate about developing a career as mixed practice vet in NZ with a strong interest in production animals. Jo has a profound expertise in molecular and cell biology research techniques, as well as experience in bioinformatics.
Jo has authored three research articles of high scientific impact and presented research on national and international conferences. Before moving to NZ in 2019 Jo was a part of the university’s teaching staff and worked as a research associate and later as a postdoctoral researcher.

Shrawan is passionate about his profession qualifying as a veterinarian in 2001. He has more than a decade of clinical veterinary experience across large and companion animal practice. He is also a trained research scientist and has published several high quality research papers in reputed international scientific journals. In addition to his BVSc degree and experience, Shrawan has undertaken several postgraduate courses relevant to small and large animal practice. He also has worked with Sheep as an animal model of human disease in his PhD project at Otago University between 2007 and 2012. He has undertaken an MSc degree in Animal Science (in the area of Reproduction and Fertility) at Massey University between 2004 and 2006. As a part of his Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Science (PGDipVCSc), Shrawan has undertaken courses in Small Animal Oncology and Anaesthesia at Massey University in 2013.

Kerwyn is an accredited BCS Assessor and a skilled and qualified Veterinary Nurse & Large Animal technician with a solid foundation of industry experience and a mature approach. Kerwyn loves what he does and enjoys the strong working relationships he has with clients.
Brenda is from beautiful Cape Town in South Africa. She obtained her Registered Nursing and Ambulance Qualifications on finishing school and has spent 20+ years working as a trauma nurse, both in theatre, and in the field. But a strong passion for animals, big and small as brought her to work in our vet clinic. Brenda feels privileged to have been able to have worked as a volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary with lions in SA and now has her own "lion" at home by the name of BounceyBoy (an ex homeless cat). Brenda brings compassion for animals as well as her varied medical/surgical and admin skillsets to GVS. “I look forward to being a part of a close-knit team where care and compassion is shown to both human and animal”.
